Chris-7Chris Falson is a story teller, songwriter, studio musician, music producer, touring artist, author and teacher and the President of Planted by the Water.

Chris is best known for his music with 14 solo albums do date, ranging from Gospel, Blues, Acoustic Pop, Church Worship and ‘New Age’ Instrumental. He divides his time between overseeing the creative division of Planted by the Water and, writing and producing music for his both his own projects and his clients.

He is a founding partner of Sounds Dangerous, a music production and licensing company based in Hollywood. Some of his production credits include Blast 23, Immortals, Cats and Dogs 2, October Road, Cover Me, Men in Trees, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, Without a Trace, Star Trek, Castle, Brothers and Sisters, Las Vegas, Yes Dear, Punk’d, Avon Breast Cancer, Bloodwork, Tavis Smiley, CSI, CSI NY, NCIS and CSI Miami.

He performs regularly (music, songs and story telling) for audiences of between one and one hundred thousand. Some of the highlights so far include The Stravinsky Auditorium Montreaux,  The LA Coliseum, Shea Stadium, Wembley Stadium, The Fools Club in Amriswil, a bell tower in Burglen, a house concert in Rockwall and for Pope John Paul’s visit to the US in ’93.

Chris is also known in the worship/gospel communities for writing and producing such songs as ‘I See the Lord‘, ‘I Walk by Faith’, ‘Pure Joy’, and ‘All Honor’, ‘Peace of God’, ‘Unconditional Love’, ‘Like a Tree’, ‘Wash my Sins Away’ and ‘Help Me to Forgive’.

Chris is an Australian born singer-songwriter living and working in LA and earning a living as a songwriter/composer, studio musician, touring artist, producer and teacher.

Chris was born into a show business family in Sydney, Australia. His father Ron Falson played trumpet with Stan Kenton, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra and wrote arranged music for film and TV. Before Ron’s passing in 2008, he produced an album with his band The Ozcats” , a wonderful showcase of his talents as an arranger and musician.

His mother Gill, a nightclub singer, dancer, choreographer and actress, continues to act, direct and sing (at the drop of a hat) and currently has her own show on East Side Radio in Sydney. Chris’s grandfather (Jack Daniels… true name) was also a professional musician and teacher, his grandmother Elvie Daniels was a piano teacher and his great grandmother Ruby Daniels, made a living working a pianist for the silent film industry.

After graduating from High School (1977) Chris started playing guitar in local bands before going on to work as a sideman for such luminaries as Tiny Tim, The Platters, The Ink Spots, Little Pattie, The Drifters, Johnny O’Keefe, Daryl Braithwaite and John Farnham. From 1982-86 Chris worked a variety of music and production jobs including; music director for a touring theater company, band leader at a casino, a studio musician on various (country, pop, jazz) albums for local recording artists, a composer/producer of jingles, performer on live variety TV shows, musical arranger for a libretto and as a multi-instrumentalist in the orchestra pit for musical productions like Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ Cats.

In 1986, with a desire to sharpen his songwriting skills, Chris enrolled in a diploma course at the School of Creative Arts under the leadership of Nigel Compton. After graduating (87) Chris was offered the position of Music Director at C3 Oxford Falls where he would work until he moved to the United States. During this season Chris wrote some of his better know worship songs such as “I Walk by Faith”, “All Honor”, “Standing on the Rock”, “Come to the Waters”, “Pure Joy” and “I See the Lord”. Chris also taught songwriting, music production and worship leader modules for the School of Create Arts, known as the C3 College, Oxford Falls, Sydney, Australia.

Between the years 1987-92 Chris was a member of the Totally Radical band, along with Geoff Bullock and Darlene Zschech. Between 1988-92 he operated as the in-house writer-producer for the Seam of Gold label, responsible for such standout albums as  ‘Stand’ and ‘War’. In 1990 Chris released his first solo album, a collection of instrumental pieces titled ‘For Dreamer’s Only’.  In 1992 his self-titled album ‘Chris Falson’ was signed to Broken Records and with album’s success on US college radio (in particular ‘Good People’ & ‘Jammin with the Angeles’) and the encouragement of his label, Chris moved (93) to Los Angeles.

1992 would be a good year for Chris.  His song “All Honor” was a featured track on the platinum selling album ‘Lift Him Up’ by the gospel artist Ron Kenoly.

After moving to LA in 1993 he joined Maranatha! Music as a songwriter and producer, writing, playing, arranging and singing on two projects: ‘Standing on the Rock’ in 1993 and ‘Pure Joy’ in 1994. Subsequently he was invited to perform in Denver for World Youth Day to honor Pope John Paul’s visit to The United States.

1995 saw the release by Chris Falson and The Amazing Stories (musicians and singers from the bands of Andre Crouch, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and the soundtrack to Disney’s The Lion King) with a live CD and video reprising some of Chris’s better-known gospel/worship songs, including ‘All Honor’, ‘I Walk by Faith’, ‘Standing On The Rock’, ‘Come To The Waters’ and ‘I See The Lord’.

From 1994 to 1998 Chris wrote songs, played guitar and sang with the Maranatha! PK Band in over 30 stadium events across America. In 1997, along with Delirious?, Matt Redmann and Noel Richards, Chris participated in the Champion concert at Wembley Stadium, London.

In 1997 Chris formed ‘The Orchard’ label through which he would release 6 solo albums ‘A Tree By The Water’, ‘For Dreamers Only’ (Remastered), ‘The Quiet’, ‘Prisoner of Hope’, ‘Flesh & Bone’ and ‘Rescue Me’ and a ‘how to’ book for the Church musician and worship leader entitled ‘Planted By The Water’.

In 1999, working along side writer-director James Alexander Langteaux, Chris co-hosted and composed music for the award winning documentary “The Rest” (Won Best Documentary Rose d’Or Festival). Subsequently, James, Chris and a band of vagabonds started having Church in a bar in LA. The ‘bar-church’ idea has since gone viral with ‘branches’ in North America, Europe and beyond.

From 2002 to 2013, after Hollywood discovered Chris’ songwriting and production talents he began writing and producing songs and music cues for NBC, CBS, Fox, Disney, Warner Bros Sony etc. His production notoriety caught the attention of Apple who hired Chris to develop a series of online tutorials for Garageband, Logic and Aperture and in 2011 he formed Sounds Dangerous LLC, a full service audio post production and music licensing company with offices in LA, Sydney and Kreuzlingen.

In 2012 Chris officially launched Planted by the Water, a non profit organization based in Los Angeles through which (2013) Chris, in partnership with 3 Ring Circus and Strike Accord, produced the short film The Release.

In 2015 Chris gathered his friends from the Amazing Stories days to form Rhythm Gospel & Blues, a band that carries some of the sounds of Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Etta James and early Clapton albums. In 2016 the band will release their first album entitled “You Got Wings”.
